I gained an illustration degree from Kingston University, graduating in 1992. I was a successful illustrator working on children books as well as editorial work for a multitude of clients. I then took a break and worked in London as a label Manager for a Record Label, Pussyfoot and then on to Carhartt Clothing as UK Marketing manager - both roles allowed me to be creative without the need to be an artist.
In 2011 I moved to Margate, where my creative juices were reignited and encouraged out of me by the amazing people i met and especially by being a part of RESORT studies there.
But this, the 3D work on this site, well that all started with a wonderful man man called Len... Len Dobson. Sadly Len has now passed away but he is the reason why my work changed from 2d to where I am now and for that I will be forever grateful to him for inspiring me through his own incredible miniature model making. RIP Len - My Hero...x
I now predominantly work in multi media miniature bringing tiny moments, thoughts, ideas to life outside the obvious train set setting! My work is not intellectual, political or life changing, I just want it to create pieces that are humorous sometimes magical and occasionally a little bit dark ... I've found a love for all things small.. I love to repurpose found objects - including flora and fauna, like insects - (all found in window sills and sheds) - I use their bodies in their magical entirety or their wings, attaching them delicately to the tiny 00 sized figures.
Check out my Gallery page for some examples of work i have created. I also work on bespoke pieces including figures to represent people and can change hair colour skin tone and clothing to capture those people as well as including things they love whether it be the environment or a caption. I love to cut the speech bubbles from old comics and magazines. I like things to have a continuing legacy in a different way. If you have ever looked at a bluebottle under a magnifying glass you will understand why their wings need to be preserved and admired.
I feel that in the future - not sure when - but that my work will change again and morph into another medium but for now - this is where I am - feel free to contact me if you have an idea of something totally unique you would love to have or give to some one - all pieces are one off and are thoughtfully created in my home studio (POA and dependent on size and contents).
I have created many bespoke commissions including pieces for Alan Carr the comic and his friend Adele who has a piece of my work in her home and has commissioned me for a friend.
Do get in touch from my contact page, commissions are welcome .
